Picking up three wins in three games and outscoring their opposition 23-7 in the process, it’s little wonder that the Soo Thunderbirds top the entries for the NOJHL Three Stars of the Week (week ending Monday, October 12th)

JUSTIN THOMAS (Soo T-Birds) – A fourth round draft pick of the Soo Greyhounds this past May, Justin Thomas recently accomplished a rare feat in the NOJHL. In three straight games, all victories for the Thunderbirds, Thomas was honoured as either first or second star of the game.

No surprise there as the talented sniper who toiled with the Toronto Jr Canadians one year ago chalked up eight goals over the three game span. It’s been a while since a 16 year old has challenged for the league scoring crown but the Muncey (Ontario) native seems intent on doing just that, sliding into sixth place with 18 points in his opening 14 games.

I said in training camp that Thomas deserves to be with the big club.
I've since watched him on the TBirds and think his abilities are being wasted there.

I agree Jerry.  We saw him last week and this kid should be called up if anyone is injured for any length of time.  He is an excellent skater and has a very good shot.  I also like the way he plays with an edge and is willing to stand in front of the net on the power play.

Maybe there will be room for him after we address the OA situation

Maybe now Thomas will come and bark with the big dogs.  But don't bring him up If he's not going to play because hes getting PT with the TBirds.  If he's gonna get PT with the Hounds then bring him up

Well if it's true that Thomas has been sent home then it is a big blow the TBirds.
Thomas has been a big part of the TBird offense and will be missed on the scoreboard.

There has been NO official statement issued by the team.
There are many rumours, as with Fine, but the team policy is the keep it in-house.   Out of respect for the players privacy.

Reported in Sault this Week as repeated violation of team rules.

Torrie said:
"He's only 16 years old and we as an organization are all about giving kids second, even third chances.
But it's not like Justin broke the rules once.  All the little violations add up and when we sent him home we advised him, his parents and his agent that he needs to decide if he is ready and willing to make a commitment, not only to us but himself."

Justin Thomas is back in town. He played in the Thunderbirds game last night and scored a goal.  Hopefully, his "bad" days are behind him because he has all the tools to be in the Greyhound lineup next season.  He would be an asset for the next 3/4 years and compliment Catenacci & Cousins really well.

GO HOUNDS!

To say that Justin's hockey future is in his own hands is a cliche and an understatement. Hopefully, getting sent home was the wake-up call he needed to get his head on straight. He certainly has the talent to succeed......now we'll see if he has the heart and determination and strength of character.

Justin has the tools to be a good OHL hockey player. Wonder if he's back because he has trade value and we are keeping him in the picture to send him packing for something in return instead of being left with an empty bag?
With the Michael Fine experience fresh in GM Torries mind it's a good possibilty JT is trade bait.

I for one would like to see Justin clean up his act and have a great OHL career. A big tough winger with good hands is exactly what we are in short supply of. Imagine the next two or three years a line of Cousins centering Morbeck and Thomas. They would give Nick lots of room to do his magic. AWESOME
